Spiderman Far From Home Doesnt Make It Back
Following the jarring cliffhangers of Avengers Endgame, the anticipated release, Spiderman: Far From Home, fails to grip the audience as expected. The special effects and Disney-Channel level romance, unfortunately, did not do justice as the sequel to the Spiderman series.
The plot revolves around Peter Parker (Tom Holland), a not-so-average teenager who wants to leave his Superhero side behind when he goes on a school trip to Europe. The movie starts off with a memorial video at Peter’s school honoring those who died. Later on, we see Peter decides to give his superhero life a break, while he enjoys his vacation with his crush, MJ (Zendaya). However, he is caught by surprise when an unanticipated villain crashes his vacation.
The screenwriters (Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers) did a formidable job creating the plotline while having a standing challenge of matching the emotional heft of Endgame. The script, however, did lack a sense of substance and structure as it strictly followed the ubiquitous, formulaic Marvel Movie. The undiscovered hero, the surprise villain, and the cliché romantic ending is something that the viewers have seen numerous times before. Not only that, the villain’s crux is somewhat debatable when the storyline does not support the villain’s storyline. However, the movie overall was one that was easy to smile at, and, although some of the jokes from the previous movie fell flat in this one, Far From Home was a good break from the sad ending from the last Marvel movie.
However, as a standalone movie, Spiderman: Far From Home is one that you would definitely find amusing to watch at home. With a combination of sappy romance and an appeal to the audience’s emotions, Marvel Studios give the audience a feel-good movie. The cliffhanger that the movie leaves off on reminds that there’s more to come.
